Lizzie Evans

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing amazing! Today, I am ecstatic to present an author’s interview of L.A. EVANS aka Lizzie, the author of the very enthralling Thriller – Junction: Time’s Ticking.

Shreya Vijay: Hello Lizzie! It is a pleasure to have you here with us today! First of all, congratulations on releasing your book and thank you for being here.

Lizzie: Thank you so much, Shreya. I am happy to be here too.

Shreya Vijay: Great! So Lizzie, why don’t we start off with you telling us something about you and your books? I am sure our audience would love to get to know the pretty woman giving this interview here.

Lizzie: I’m an author, living in Bridgwater, Somerset UK and my debut novel ‘Junction: Time’s Ticking’ was published a few months ago. I’m a people manager by day but a thriller author by night! I live with my partner Carl and my two furry, feline friends Spot and Strudel.

Shreya: Wow Lizzie! That is really sweet. My next question is what exactly pushed you to become an author?

Lizzie: I’ve always been creative but never studied creative writing or achieved a qualification. However, I’ve always loved writing since school. So, when I had my dream (I’ll come on to this a little later on) I just knew I had to write my first novel. It was my partner Carl, who really encouraged me to publish ‘Junction: Time’s Ticking’ because he had such faith in my ability. I saw writing as more of a hobby to start with, but it was this encouragement from Carl that gave me my own self-belief. So I published ‘Junction: Time’s Ticking’ and am now writing the second book in ‘The Junction Trilogy’ with a view to one day becoming a full time author.

Shreya: Now isn’t that amazing! What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Lizzie: If you don’t find me writing, working or marketing my books, you’ll probably find me watching some sort of zombie-based film or playing silly board games. If you haven’t guessed already, I’m a bit of a geek!

Shreya: Wow! You truly are a gem of a person, Lizzie. I am so happy that you’ve kept your inner child alive. Over to more silly stuff, what off the scene tid-bits in your life might surprise your readers the most?

Lizzie: I’ve got a few other strings to my bow. I’m an accredited Wedding Planner, a journey I embarked on a number of years ago. I set up a business called WEDS (Wedding & Event Design, Somerset) and planned a couple of weddings before closing its doors two years ago. I’m also a classical singer, occasionally still do a few little concerts but nothing to shout about (or sing about)! And I’m a bit of an artist, my latest painting being of Ed Sheeran which I painted for my partner, Carl (Ed’s number one fan)!

Shreya: Oh my god! I just have to hear you sing now. Also, while we are at it, I would love to have you make a painting for me too, haha. Jokes apart, when did the idea for this book first strike you?

Lizzie: Well, I first dreamt of the idea back in 2013. I woke up one morning and thought, ‘Now that dream would make a good book, why not give writing a go?’ And so, I started writing. It was a hobby to start with, something to try and get my teeth stuck into. I wrote the first draft and put the book down for a few years. Then I met Carl almost 3 years ago. He read my first draft and was amazed that I hadn’t done anything with it and hadn’t published it. So, he encouraged me and gave me that self-belief to think, ‘maybe I could get this book published’. And that’s why ‘Junction: Time’s Ticking’ is available today and two more books in the trilogy are on the very near horizon. Because I now have much more self-belief and strive to be a full-time author.

Shreya: Ahaan! This is so good. Now, what was the hardest part about writing this book?

Lizzie: Now this is a good question! I think the hardest part is the proof-reading. Reading your creation over and over again and still finding things you can tweak and make better. The most difficult thing is to decide when its ‘finished’ because I don’t think a book is ever finished. Not really. I could quite easily go back now and change some things, and to be honest I will be as I know of some things I’d like to add into ‘Junction: Time’s Ticking’.

Shreya: Ahh! I do agree. Proof reading is one heck of a job. But whilst writing, do you have a particular schedule you like to stick to or you just go with the flow?

Lizzie: For book one ‘Junction: Time’s Ticking’ I didn’t have a set schedule. However, ‘Junction: Still Ticking’, the second book in ‘The Junction Trilogy’, will be published in March 2021 and the third in the trilogy ‘Junction: Time’s Up’ will be released in time for Christmas 2021. I have set myself these deadlines because I want to keep my readers happy and I don’t want them to be left waiting too long for the next book of the trilogy. Working full time means that I write during my weekends, so it does take longer for me to write books. However, I’m hoping one day I can spend all of my days writing and doing nothing else!

Shreya: So Lizzie, out of all the characters in your novel, who is your favorite?

Lizzie: Ooo … this is tricky because I like all of my characters for one reason or another. I think my favourite character is probably Tom. I think most women would fall for a man like Tom. However, there are a couple of quirky Somerset folk who pop up during the books and make me smile. Mrs Wyatt as an example is a lovable, elderly Somerset woman. And in book two, you’ll meet an adorable Somerset truck driver with a very broad dialect. I loved writing these two’s dialogues!

Shreya: Yeah, that seems fair. Okay, finally, is there something you’d like to say to your readers?

Lizzie: I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has read ‘Junction: Time’s Ticking and I really hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I loved writing it. I have been so blessed to have received such wonderful reviews so far, so thank you.

Please remember, if you’ve read ‘Junction: Time’s Ticking’ and haven’t yet left a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads, please do so as I would love to gather your thoughts and maybe even use the reviews to help me approach an agent or publisher one day.
