There are a few stories that are bound to stay with you for the rest of your life. Maybe not because of their story line but actually because of the values it imparts. Clean Slate is a collection of such short stories that are bound to make the reader fall in love with them. It contains stories from various genres and every story has some value to be imparted. I picked up this book because of its unusual title and recently, I have been pretty obsessed with short stories.
To be very honest, I have never really liked Short stories because I feel a lack of connection with the characters. Before I could even start to build up an understanding, the story ends. However, I am pretty happy to admit that this book did not let me down at all. The stories were short but captivating.
The cover of the book is quite catchy. The title is also pretty unique. However, I failed to understand the reason for using it. When I talk about the writing style of the author, it is very gripping. In fact, once you start reading the book, it will be tough for you to put it down. Story after story, the book just whooshes past. Before you know it, you are at the end of it.
Each story is increasingly different from the other. That is one of the best parts of the book. There were stories from the fantasy niche and also the mystery and thriller genre. My personal favourite stories would be ‘My Professor’ and ‘The Haunted House.’
The characters were amazingly penned and seemed real. There was not a single moment where I felt myself losing interest in the book for even one story. The entire plot is cleverly woven and when I talk about the climax of each story, it is also pretty satisfactory…
I would recommend this book for everyone who is looking for a good collection of short stories that instil some values in the reader. This book fosters stories that will always remain with the readers.
