Seldom do I find books whose names go so well with their content. ‘She Erased Me’ by Himanshu Rai is one such crime thriller masterpiece. The cover of the dark is dark and enigmatic. It pulls the reader in and compels them to flip the pages trying to figure out the relevance of the book cover.
The story is very complex and had me scratching my head in confusion more times than I care to admit. Every time I thought that I had the plot figured, something went down that made me question my assumptions. The book is crazily paced, and you don’t get a lot of time to breathe in between. The dual-person narrative is strong and, the writing is reader-friendly. I didn’t really consider putting the book down once I started reading it.
The reader is thrown headfirst into the book, and then, they are so into the narrative that it is almost impossible to put the book down. In fact, the narration is so strong that it had adrenaline pumping through my veins. The author has a vivid writing style, one that sucks the readers in. Crime thrillers always have a allure to them, one that is not easily found in other books.
The characters are lucidly penned, and the fact that they bear significant resemblance to reality made me increasingly fond of them. The story was enthralling, vengeful, and thrilling. The only thing I found a little irking was the climax. Even though I adored the concept of the climax, I think that it could’ve been better executed.
Other than that, I would be recommending this book to everyone looking for a quick and fast-paced crime read, one that will keep you guessing till the very end.
