Hadley meets Aiden, a sculptor who carves statues of women from wood. Hadley falls in love with him & his scare pranks. Sure, the prank sometimes cross the limits but at least they are fun. Hadley decides to surprise Aiden on his birthday but itβs a night gone horribly wrong. After all that is what happens when all the scare pranks become a reality for Hadley.
Jeremy Ray has once again written a novella, this time horror, which is sure to keep the readers hooked till the very end. This book has a sort of lull and allure to it which wasn’t there in any of his previous books. I gobbled it up in a single sitting & now, I can’t stop thinking about the story. Honestly, Iβve read the book twice and the story was so petrifying yet so compelling that it seemed like a crime to put it down.
Firstly, the cover took my breath away. I LOVED IT. The title is also very unique & frankly, was the reason why I picked up this book. The scary mannequin on the cover page was the one I kept imagining every time the word βsculpturesβ came up in the book. Jeremy has succeeded in painting a story which is bound to stay with the readers for a very long time. There was an essence of candidness to his words which made me love the book 10 times more.
The story is exceptionally amazing. The plot was simple and engaging. There was a moment when things start to simmer down but as soon I decided that itβs an appropriate time to take a breath, Jeremy pushed the accelerator once again. I loved the characters of Hadley & Aiden. The book kept me guessing till the very end & I just couldn’t stop reading.
The pace was perfect & intriguing enough to keep the reader bouncing on the edge of their seat, agitating to know what happens next. The world building is commendable & this book is sure to mess with the screws of all the readers. The climax wasβ¦ well, Iβm spellbound. After reading the last line, it was as if a thousand spiders crawled across my back! (Sorry for the mental image but I mean it!) Oh! The horror! There couldnβt have been a better ending to this amazing novella.
Long story short, I ADORED THIS BOOK & I would recommend it to EVERYONE.
