The Gatherings – Jeremy Ray

The Gatherings is a phenomenally creepy and terrifying Post-Apocalyptic Novel penned by the very talented, Jeremy Ray. It is a first-hand account of Emily – one of the few survivors of a Global catastrophic event planned by a mass of people who call themselves The Gatherings. The unique thing about this book is that this book does not deal with Apocalypse in terms of Zombie or alien invasions, or even virus outbreaks. It is something else – Meat Centipede to be precise.

I entered this book chuckling at the outrageous and fictitious premise and I ended it lost in thought and shaken by the mental imagery the author managed to stuff into my mind. I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did because this is not my usual genre. The only reason I picked up this book was because the author was Jeremy Ray.

It is no secret that Jeremy is a highly gifted writer. His writing style is highly engaging and every time he brings something new for his readers. As soon as the readers open his book, they fall under the spell of his maestro story telling skills. The sentences are gorgeously balanced and the candidness of the novel plays an immense part in its success.

This was another book that I couldn’t stop thinking about. I read this book before going to bed and I dreamt about the Apocalypse happening. This is the hold the author had over me. The story didn’t even leave me in my sleep. Owing to the recent Pandemic times, the content of the book didn’t really seem so far-fetched. Jeremy, once again, proved to be immensely talented in conjuring an alternate reality which is essentially an amplification of our own.

The plot was highly intriguing and the story line kept me turning pages like a mad woman. In a nutshell, this was a highly immersive book and since it’s a short story, it does require a long commitment. But mind you, this is not an easy read. This is Jeremy’s first story but he has complete control over his writing and story. You just HAVE to read his books.
