The Roommate Situation is a witty and hilarious Romcom centered around the life of Jess. She, in a couple of eventful days, is now jobless, homeless and boyfriend-less. Trying to save face, she decides to come live with her brother Aiden until she can stand up on her feet. But what (more like who) awaits her in the house is a Greek God, deviously charming. Jess now has to room with an exotic specimen of a man and try to keep her hands to herself. Can she do that? Well, one thing is for sure. It’s not going to be easy.

Hahahaha – this is how I’d like to start my review. The Roommate Situation is a book that tickled me pink. It’s a Romcom after all. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about the plot since I don’t do well with the trope of my brother’s best friend. However, the book surpassed all my expectations. It was funny, engaging and interesting.

I started reading the book, chuckling at the premise and came out with my cheeks red from laughing so hard. Now that I think about it, I might have some pretty deep laugh-lines added to my face now. Thanks to this insanely entertaining book. This book was as warm as hot cocoa and adorable as a tiny little kitten; I couldn’t get enough of it. I wanted to sit and cuddle with this book for the foreseeable future.

The dialogue delivery was candid and witty. The delivery of every dialogue was amplified with a certain amount of punch, which kept the book engaging throughout. The forbidden romance element, wrapped up in forced proximity and brother’s best friend trope, amped up the tension between Jess and Connor. The storyline was fluid and comprehensive. The pace was also perfect. There was no information dump yet; the novel was vividly descriptive.

The characters were fleshed out with a surprising amount of finesse, which made me enjoy the book so much more. The chemistry between Connor and Jess was sizzling and fuzzy at the same time. Their banter was so fun that it was like watching little pieces of rainbow among glaring sunlight.

Jess was a likable character with her fascinating personality and her tendency to shoot bullets of sarcasm. Connor was an absolute sweetheart and will definitely steal the hearts of all the readers.

I enjoyed all the aspects of the plot. It was a clear HEA ending which left me feeling all gooey and fuzzy on the inside. I fell in love with all the characters Katie introduced. Now, I cannot wait to read the story of Aiden and his slightly crazy and hyperactive neighbor.

In a nutshell, the author has done a wonderful and flawless job with her debut novel. I would recommend this book to everyone looking for a fascinating and hilarious read that will certainly pull you out of your slump.
